If you are planning to run the air conditioner for a very long time then this is a good idea to switch to economic mode. This will help you save a lot on your electricity bills. Some modern air conditioners also come with presence detectors. You can use this symbol to make the air conditioner switch off or run idle when everyone leaves the room. But this is a special feature that is not available on most common air conditioners.
